Travis, owner and leather crafting expert, was born and raised in Chappell Hill, Texas. He grew up team roping and calf roping, in which he participated in many rodeos and jackpots throughout the years.
He attended farrier school in 2001 in Oklahoma and returned to Texas to shoe horses for a living. In 2004, he decided he wanted a custom rope can made and sketched out the design he envisioned. Travis took his drawing to Tom Bouquet, a saddle maker in Sealy, Texas. It was that visit to Tom's saddle shop where he became interested in learning more about leather work. It soon became a daily ritual that Travis would shoe horses in the morning and hang out in Tom's saddle shop in the afternoons.
In 2005, Tom invited Travis to travel with him to Sheridan, Wyoming to meet a friend of his, Don King, and the rest of the King Saddlery's family. Travis was exploring the Don King Museum when he came upon Jim Jackson tooling belts. Travis watched Jim turn a plain piece of leather into a work of art, which fascinated him. The next day he went to Barry King's shop and purchased a small set of stamp's that Barry said would get him started. Every time Travis traveled to Wyoming, he would visit the King's and watch Jim create amazing pieces. Upon returning home, he would spend countless hours trying to figure out what he observed at Jim's bench.
Travis is beyond blessed to have Tom Bouquet as his mentor and friend.
Special thanks to Joey Jemison for the invaluable time and knowledge he has shared with Travis to improve his skills throughout the years.
Travis is fortunate that he was introduced to several accomplished influences that helped him grow into the leather craftsman he is today.
When Travis is not in his leather shop, he spends his time roping and tending to cattle. Travis currently resides in Brenham, Texas with his wife, Cori, and son, Colt.
